First Autumn Moment

Earlier this month I experienced my first autumn moment.  I was reading some knitting blogs and came across this pair of socks.  They stopped me in my tracks.  I stared at them a moment and knew I had to have some of that yarn.  Right then I went to the yarn site and ordered some.  It has arrived and I wound it this morning, and enjoyed it all over again.  I can hardly wait to cast on but have decided November is probably the month I'd most enjoy knitting them.

When I look at the colors I see apples, beautiful apples that are so abundant this time of year in the states of Washington and Oregon, as well as some New England states.  I see evergreens, and I see fallen brown cones from the conifer trees as I walk along wooded paths.  I think of hot chocolate and a fire in the fireplace.  I see a fleece throw in my lap, fleece, the wonder fiber of the Pacific Northwest.

Have you experienced your first autumn moment?

Working on that moment here - the smoke from the fires is much less today. I usually welcome fall by being in elk camp in N.E. Oregon but this year I stayed home with Chucky!

The socks/yarn are beautiful and I know you will create a true confection!!

I noticed that our big pine tree in the back yard is full of pine cones, then I started to take note of other pines and saw many many cones in them too. I hope that is the sign of a cold snowy winter! I am a fall and winter girl. I guess that was my first fall moment!

Do you really wear socks like that? I think it's a "What Not To Wear" moment!

The colors are beautiful, but how about a scarf instead?

Fun socks. Nope, still warm and shorts weather here. I'm beginning to think about clothes for DC in the fall tho. Maybe that's my moment.

#1Nana,
Sorry you don't like the socks but yes I do wear socks like that. I do not, however, wear them with shoes like that, though I see plenty of young women who do. I wear mine with casual clogs and my athletic shoes.
